Why Should I Hire You?
There are a ton of options in the Sacramento area for photographers and it can get quite overwhelming to find the right one. These days almost everybody has a smartphone or fancy camera and some even like to call themselves photographers. Although what most are lacking is the proper education on how to nail lighting/composition correctly or the creative vision to put their thought into motion. I have studied and studied the last seven years to be able to achieve the consistent quality that you see on my social media and website every shoot. I have attended numerous workshops and have done one on one mentorships specific to newborn and family photography. There is so much more to it than just snapping the shutter. I can create your vision and tackle it with professionalism and will always make every client my top priority. I include access to my studio wardrobe with all sessions and trust me, it does not disappoint. I have it stocked with a ton of high end dresses in a multitude of sizes and offer online shopping/styling for the whole family. I have my business license, business insurance and do not do this as a hobby. I specialize in newborn and family photography because it speaks to me. It is my “why” and is quite literally all I think about on a daily basis. The safety of your baby is not something I take lightly and I will never do something that would put that in jeopardy. In this world of Pinterest and various other social media, it is scary to see so many photographers attempting poses without proper safety training. Please keep in mind when you are searching for the right newborn photographer that whomever you decide to go with is a professional photographer with a license/insurance and specializes or has had a lot of experience in newborn photography. They need to be well versed with all aspects of newborn photography and have had hands on training with safety education as well.
What is the Creative Fee?
The creative fee is the retainer fee for my time and talent as your photographer. This fee is collected up front in the form of a retainer and is required to complete your booking and secure your selected session date. I will send you an electronic invoice along with the quote/contract and you may pay using paypal.
What Methods of Payment Do You Accept?
I accept Paypal, Square, Venmo, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Cash or Check.
Are Digital Images Included?
I offer both printed artwork and high resolution digital images for purchase following your session. As a photographer with both high quality and the ability to safeguard your treasured keepsakes in the forefront of my mind, I strongly believe that a printed image or album is the safest way to preserve your art. However, digital files are in high demand, so I gladly offer them. Digital images are available for purchase and are in addition to my creative session fee.
Why Are Digital Images So Expensive?
Color space, monitor calibration, paper profiles and printer technology are advanced stuff. When I edit your images in Photoshop, I embed color “data” into the file that a professional lab with advanced equipment can read. They assess the metadata and print your files exactly as we see it on the screen at your ordering appointment. Whether you decide to purchase your files as digitals or as printed products, the process for me is exactly the same. A print is archival. It will last. A digital file is electronic. It will not! We can always make a digital image from a print. We cannot from a corrupted file! There is also a lost opportunity cost to the studio the moment I hand a client their digital files. That cost of that is factored into my pricing so that I can continue thrive as a small business.
What is the Average Investment?
On average my clients invest around $1100-$2000 for both the session and fully archival art products.
How Long Does The Session Take and Where Will It Be?
My newborn sessions take on average 2-3 hours and totally depend on the baby. All of my other sessions take an hour. Newborn sessions take place at my studio in Roseville or are available in home as well. I have many outdoor locations that I use for non newborn sessions and these will be discussed in detail after booking your session.
How Many People Can Be at the Session?
Outdoor family sessions are for up to six people. Anything in addition to that must be discussed and paid for in advance. I charge $25 per extra person. Newborn sessions are only for the immediate family.
Are Parent/Sibling Shots Included with Newborn Session?
Parent and sibling shots are absolutely available and encouraged.
What Should I Wear to the Session?
After we have booked your session we will do a wardrobe consult located at my studio where you will be able to peruse my studio wardrobe options. If you need additional styling help, I will provide you with a link to a website where you will fill out a questionnaire and get links to a ton of wardrobe options based on your answers. Its amazing and exclusive to my clients.
Can I Change Outfits During Our Session?
You can always switch things up but keep in mind that this eats up the allotted time we have for the session. It’s best to dress in a layered option if you want different looks. Bring accessories and layering pieces that are quick and easy.
What Should I Bring?
You do not need to bring anything as far as props, etc. I have a ton of options and we will discuss this during our consultation when we are discussing the style of the session.
How Far In Advance Should I Book Our Session?
I typically book 2-3 months out and only take a certain amount of newborns per month. It is always best to book in advance and as soon as possible to make sure I have a spot available for you.
How Far Do You Travel?
I travel up to 20 miles away. Anything beyond that is available for an additional fee. Please inquire for specifics.
What is the Turnaround Time Following Our Session?
My typical turnaround time is anywhere from 3-4 weeks. We will discuss my current turnaround time at the time of your session and choose another date accordingly to have the ordering viewing/appointment.
What if I Need to Cancel?
If you need to cancel or reschedule I require 24 hours notification prior to our session by phone. Please let me know as soon as possible if you need to make a change and I will do my best to accommodate you for a future date available. Please do not email me. I am best reached by phone.
Do You Offer Reshoots?
I offer reshoots only when there is a scheduling conflict. I cannot assume any responsibility for poor clothing choices, specific requested poses/set ups, behavior problems, etc. This is a business and as much as I love to provide an exceptional experience from beginning to end for all of my clients, there is simply a limit to what I can do when it involves additional time to do so.
What if My Baby Doesn’t Sleep for the Newborn Session?
This is a tough one for me. As a parent you are expecting all of these sleepy basket shots and cuddly poses but it just doesn’t always work out that way depending on the baby’s temperament that day. Some babies have tummy issues, want to cluster feed, etc. It’s a very rare day that I am not able to achieve the desired results but sometimes we do have to ditch the original plan if baby is just having a bad day. I will always attempt the session up until the time that baby is showing signs of distress and we may have to just settle for swaddled, awake shots rather than sleepy, squishy poses in this situation. Please be patient and know that this is out of everybody’s control. The baby can sense tension and it can absolutely make or break the session if you are not calm. If I feel that the gallery will be lacking in variation I will offer to reschedule the shoot to a different day.
