After moving from CA to Oregon I was completely shell shocked I guess you can say. What was up suddenly seemed down. Everything I knew looked different. The landscape here in Oregon was so lush and green. Truth be told I wasn’t sure if my clients would relate to my work the same way they once had in CA. Those who know me, know how much I love my sun drenched images. Finding that same vibe with a slightly more Oregon feel seemed a little challenging at first.
Laura’s little fam was the first I captured after our big move and they made me realize two very important things……….#1 My vibe may have changed a bit but what I always connect to first, prior to gorgeous backlight, will always be my client’s connection. The sunlight may not pour into the frame the way it once had but not one ounce of lacking sunlight will change my love for photography.
#2 My fingers know right to go and my heart will always guide me through. This session was shot at Powell Butte which photographs beautifully. Laura was wearing a gorgeous, newly added piece from my client closet (the floral Selkie gown from Free People) and it was a dream to capture. It was like it was made for her! She rocked it like a boss and I loved dancing around that evening with her and her sweet family.

Hello and thank you for visiting my blog! I’m Stephanie, a family, maternity and newborn photographer located in Portland, Oregon. My focus is on connection and all things motherhood. I want all of my clients to feel something when they look at their images. My favorite part of working with women is not only helping them see their beauty but having them feel it too! I love playing with light in an artistic way, wrapping it around my subject whether it’s in the studio against window light or out in a field with golden backlight. I love light and airy but also depth and moody. I continuously dip my toe in all things that fill my cup creatively.
I spend a great deal of time with each client offering them an experience few I know offer. I want all of my mamas to get dolled up and treasured…….To take center stage they way they should and often times don’t feel deserving of.
My studio is located in Kalama, Washington. I offer studio, in home, outdoor and travel sessions. Studio sessions are reserved for smaller, more intimate shoots. It’s perfect for maternity, newborn, nursing, 6 mo and 1 year sessions. Ask me about my new Petite Studio offering!
